A clear location record is the foundation of a Platinum Nuzlocke. When an area produces its first eligible encounter, save that result against the route or location in the run. This prevents a common problem: revisiting a route later and forgetting whether its encounter was already used, missed or skipped by a clause. The tracker retains the outcome alongside the team, so the available team and the remaining encounter opportunities can be reviewed together.

The Sinnoh map helps identify routes and locations before the next segment of the run. It supports a route-first planning style, but it does not replace the actual playthrough. The first encounter rule, duplicates clause and treatment of special Pokémon remain choices for the run. Review the map before moving forward, then record the real result afterwards. This keeps the guide useful whether the player wants detailed preparation or only a clean progress log.

After a faint that ends a Pokémon’s run, record the loss and update the active team. Seeing the loss history beside boxed options avoids accidental reuse and makes the run’s consequences concrete.
