Sun Stone is an evolution stone for a small list of specific Pokémon. It arrived in Generation 2 and is the rarest of the stones because so few species need it.
What does the item do?
Evolves certain species of Pokémon. A peculiar stone that can make certain species of Pokémon evolve. It burns as red as the evening sun.
Which Pokémon does Sun Stone evolve?
Evolves a handful of species the moment you use it. Stone evolutions happen instantly, with no level requirement. In FireRed/LeafGreen exactly one Kanto Pokémon is affected: Gloom becomes Bellossom, and only after you own the National Pokédex. The other target species like Sunkern come from later games. The usual stone rule applies: after evolving, the new form learns few or no level-up moves, so secure the moves you want first.
Our Kanto dataset (FireRed/LeafGreen) has no recorded location for Sun Stone. In FireRed/LeafGreen one Sun Stone lies in Ruin Valley in the Sevii Islands. Our Kanto map does not cover the Sevii Islands, so no location appears above. The stone is not sold anywhere in the game.
