Choice Specs
DE: Wahlbrille · Cost: 4000 ₽
Choice Specs is the special counterpart to Choice Band. It raises the holder's Special Attack sharply but allows only one move per stay on the field. It was introduced in Generation 4.
What does the item do?
Increases Special Attack by 50%, but restricts the holder to only one move. An item to be held by a Pokémon. These curious glasses boost Sp. Atk but only allow the use of one move.
Effect numbers are modern rules. FRLG may differ. See Q&A.
Special Attack ×1.5, locked into one move until you switch. All Choice rules apply: one move until you switch, a new pick afterwards. The boost is one of the strongest legal damage increases in the game and turns coverage moves like Surf or Thunderbolt into safe answers against weaker opponents. Typical holders are fast special attackers that spam their strongest move anyway. Against opponents who resist that move, the lock gets punished fast.
Our Kanto dataset (FireRed/LeafGreen) has no recorded location for Choice Specs. Choice Specs arrived with Generation 4 (Diamond/Pearl). It does not exist in FireRed/LeafGreen and cannot be traded in, because the GBA games have no data for it.
The glasses for glass cannons. For special sweepers, Choice Specs is the most direct damage boost available. Life Orb is the more flexible alternative with less power. The lock rarely pays off in a story run; in versus matches the specs belong on attackers with one dominant move.
