Pokémon Battle Simulator

This Pokémon battle simulator runs a real 1v1 in the browser. Set level, held item, ability and four moves on each side, pick weather and terrain, then start. The engine uses official damage formulas from Generation 1 to 9. Free, no signup, English and German.

HOW IT WORKS

Set both sides, then start the fight

Pick two Pokémon, lock a set, choose weather if it matters, then start. The log writes every round. Versus only shows ranges. This page plays the 1v1.

SAMPLE LOG

  1. TURN 1Flamethrower42-49
  2. TURN 2Hydro Pump61-72
  3. TURN 3EarthquakeKO
  1. Configure your Pokémon

Pick both fighters and set the level, held item, ability and up to four moves for each side.

  2. Set the conditions

Weather and terrain are up to you. The ruleset follows the generation you select, from Red and Blue to Scarlet and Violet.

  3. Pick the AI mode

Random plays loose and unpredictable. Merciless runs the damage math on every move each round and takes the hardest-hitting option.

  4. Read the battle log

Every round is logged with damage, critical hits and status effects, in English or German. HP bars and sprites keep track of the fight live.

ENGINE

How @pkmn/sim resolves a round

The engine is @pkmn/sim, the same battle code Pokémon Showdown uses. Each round uses the official damage formula of the selected generation, from Red and Blue through Scarlet and Violet.

Damage, STAB and stages

Same-type attack bonus, stat stages, status, critical hits and PP follow the console rules. Held items and abilities apply the way they do in that generation.

Nine generation rulesets

Terrain is absent in FireRed. Weather follows Gen 3 rules there. From Gen 4 the physical and special split is per move. Pick the game first, then read the log.

The log names every hit

Each round names the move, the damage and why a Pokémon is still standing. Speed uses the real stats, so the first mover is not a coin flip unless the speeds tie.

IN PRACTICE

Nuzlocke gyms, forum sets, weather checks

Nuzlocke prep

Rebuild the gym ace, start the fight, then read whether the partner lives the hardest hit. Do that before the run spends the faint.

Settling matchup debates

Lock both sets and let them fight. For ranges without a full fight, open Versus on this site.

Learning the mechanics

One extra stat stage or a weather shift is easier to see in a live log than on a formula page.

LIMITS

No ladder, no 6v6, no PvP

QUESTIONS

Free, Gen 1 to 9, AI only

Q&A

Yes, completely. There's no account, no download and no subscription behind it. The battle runs locally in your browser, so there's no server login and no queue. Every AI mode and all nine generation rulesets are included at no cost.

You choose the ruleset for generations 1 through 9, from Red and Blue up to Scarlet and Violet, and the mechanics adapt to your pick. One example: under FireRed and LeafGreen rules, terrain doesn't exist and weather follows the Gen 3 rules. Moves, stats and turn resolution always match the generation you've selected.

Not directly, at least not yet. The simulator always pairs you against the AI, and there's no player-versus-player mode right now. The workaround: rebuild your friend's set as the opponent and test against it. If you want to compare sets head to head, the Versus tool on mypokepanion puts damage numbers and speed for both Pokémon side by side.
